Terms of use

1. Who we are

VVDex is operated by Vamsi Venkatesh, Robert-Seitz-Straße 1, 39108 Magdeburg, Germany (“we”). Contact: vamsi@vamsivenkatesh.com. By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms.

2. Early access

VVDex is new. Features can change, be added or be withdrawn, and the service can be interrupted for maintenance or by faults. We do not promise any level of availability. The status page shows which parts of the service are working.

3. Your account

• You can use VVDex without signing in: your first visit opens a guest workspace in your browser. Signing in needs a working email address. You must be at least 16 years old.
• Keep your sign-in codes and API keys secret. Anything done with your API key counts as done by your workspace. Revoke a key you think is exposed.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

4. The Free plan

The Free plan costs nothing and needs no payment details. Its limits are listed on the limits page. We may change the limits of the Free plan; we will announce lower limits in advance where we can. Paid plans are not on sale; nothing is charged.

5. Your providers, your keys, your costs

• When you connect a model with your own key, VVDex calls that provider on your behalf, as you instruct. You are responsible for following that provider’s terms, including any rules on benchmarking or publishing results, and for all costs your key incurs there.
• You may only connect endpoints and apps that you are allowed to test. Do not point VVDex at systems you do not control or have no permission to test.

6. Evaluations on request

Three Forge exams are public: anyone can run them within the published limits. The others are private and run only on request.

• You describe in a request what you want tested. We reply with a plan: which exams, how many attempts, and when you get the report. We may decline a request, for example when our exams cannot test what you need.
• We start the runs in your workspace, on the model connections you saved there. Your provider charges your key for those calls, as in section 5. A private exam calls only a provider’s own API, never an address you run.
• A private exam stays ours. The report shows results, not the tasks, hidden tests or reference answers, and you may not try to extract, copy or publish them.
• The report is our reading of the attempts that were run, with how certain each number is. Section 9 applies to it.

7. Your content

You keep all rights to the prompts, datasets and other content you put into VVDex. You give us the right to store and process that content, and to send it to the providers you select, only as far as needed to run the service for you. When you share a run or publish a result, you allow anyone who can see it to view it. You are responsible for having the right to use your content, including any personal data in it.

8. Acceptable use

You may not:

• break the law, or use VVDex to infringe other people’s rights;
• use VVDex to attack, overload or probe systems, including through connection addresses;
• get around plan limits, rate limits or access controls, or open accounts in bulk;
• interfere with the service, its security or other users’ workspaces;
• publish a receipt or result you have altered, or present a result as something it is not;

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you the chance to explain.

9. Results and receipts

A VVDex result and its receipt describe one run: the questions asked, the answers received and the grades given, on that date. They are not a certification that a model or app is fit for any purpose, safe, or free of errors, and they say nothing about inputs that were not tested. Scores from a model judge are advisory until their agreement with human labels has been measured. For endpoints you control, the model’s name is what you reported.

10. Liability

Because the service is provided free of charge, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence. This does not limit our liability for injury to life, body or health, for fraudulently concealed defects, or under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). The service is provided as it is, without any warranty beyond what the law requires.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for the future. We will tell signed-up users about material changes by email at least two weeks before they apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before the change applies.

12. Law and place of jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country still apply. If you are a merchant, the place of jurisdiction is Magdeburg.
